Ron Leys retired more than three decades ago from his position as outdoor editor of the Milwaukee Journal, about four years before Wisconsin’s largest newspaper merged with the company’s morning paper in 1995 to create the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Leys, 86, stopped writing stories long ago but still tells them while fishing with friends in the coastal waters of the Mississippi River near his home in Prairie du Chien. What’s more, he still tells a story in every story.
