Matt LaFleur provides updates on Quay Walker, Carrington Valentine and Jacob Monk

The Green Bay Packers expect three players to return to Wednesday’s practice wearing protective gear.

Coach Matt LaFleur said linebacker Quay Walker, cornerback Carrington Valentine and offensive lineman Jacob Monk will participate in practice on Wednesday.

Walker and Monk missed Tuesday’s practice. LaFleur said Monk was dealing with some fatigue after Saturday’s preseason game and the heat in Green Bay on Tuesday. Walker, a key starter at linebacker, did not participate in 11-on-11 work. The Packers are currently burdened with injuries at linebacker, with rookie Edgerrin Cooper (hip) expected to miss another practice on Wednesday.

The fact that Monk avoided injury is a good sign for the rookie, who is gaining popularity as a versatile offensive lineman.

Valentine is the biggest injury news. He missed the better part of two weeks with a hamstring injury. LaFleur said Valentine — who is competing for the position opposite Jaire Alexander at perimeter cornerback — will participate in individual periods, as is customary for players returning from injury.

The Packers will have a pads workout Wednesday and a walk-through Thursday before traveling to Denver. The Packers and Broncos have a joint practice scheduled for Friday and a preseason game Sunday night.
