“One of the greatest baroque conductors of his generation” (The Independent) Nicholas McGegan returns to the MSO to conduct the music of the two Haydns, beginning with incidental music by younger brother Michael Haydn from Voltaire’s play Zaïre. Later, Joseph Haydn’s rousing “Military” Symphony lives up to its name with its percussive power, trumpet fanfare, and what one reviewer called “a climax of terrible sublimity!”
