The Milwaukee Brewers will be an intriguing team to keep an eye on throughout the MLB offseason. Although they were a contender and made the playoffs during the regular season, they were quickly unmasked in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, they are still a few pieces away from becoming a legitimate World Series contender.
With that in mind, there has been a lot of speculation about what moves the Brewers might make. Milwaukee may want to consider an aggressive approach in its pursuit of a championship.
Fox Sports’ Deesha Thosar suggested an intriguing trade Milwaukee could consider.
Milwaukee Breweries Urged to Continue Big Trading with Los Angeles Angels
In her suggestion, she urged the Brewers to pursue a trade with the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for goaltender Luis Rengifo.
“If the Brewers end up moving Turang or Ortiz to shortstop, they could consider trading for Angels shortstop Luis Rengifo, who will be in his final year of arbitration in 2025. It’s a boon for Milwaukee that Rengifo plays both second and third, rather than he shouldn’t cost them too many prospects or dazzling players as he would be a one-year stop-gap option.
Rengifo he would be a one-year player if something didn’t work out. However, if everything worked out, the Milwaukee Brewers could consider re-signing him and keeping him for the future.
During the 2024 MLB season with the Angels, Rengifo played in 78 games. He hit six home runs for 30 RBI while slashing .300/.347/.417.
These numbers would be a solid addition to the Brewers lineup. He’s only 27 years elderly, giving him the potential to become much more than just a one-year rental.
With all of this in mind, it will be very engaging to see what Milwaukee decides to do this offseason. If they really want to win the championship, they will need to make some impactful moves.
Acquiring Rengifo may not be a “sexy” move, but it’s a trade that would certainly improve the overall talent of the roster and give a little more aid to the Milwaukee Brewers lineup.
