Milwaukee Breweries: William Contreras and Tommy Pham have two VERY different answers to questions about their dust

The Milwaukee Breweries on Sunday afternoon, they won their fifth straight game, defeating the Chicago White Sox 6-3. It was Chicago’s 11th straight loss. Freddy Peralta had a coarse first inning where he gave up two runs, but he bounced back to throw five mighty innings of three-run ball while striking out seven.

Offensively, Milwaukee received support from rookie Jackson Chourio, who had a home run and two outs in the second inning. Gary Sanchez added two of his two RBIs in the eighth inning to extend the Brewers’ lead.

There were a few fireworks in the eighth inning (other than the ones that went off after Chourio’s home run). In the top half of the field, the White Sox had runners on second and third with one out. Corey Julks hit a fly ball to Christian Yelich from left field. After catching the ball, Yelich threw home and doubled White Sox outfielder Tommy Pham, who hit third.

As you can see, Pham rejected something Brewers catcher William Contreras said or did. He had to be escorted from home plate and began shadow boxing on his way to his spot on the field.

After the match, Pham was still reeling from the event. He told reporters that it’s situations like Contreras’s that inspire him to box this offseason:

“He plays one-run ball, close play at the plate. In fact, it wasn’t even damn close,” Pham said. “It was a shallow ball going to left field. You would expect the left fielder to throw out the base runner on this play. In this situation in the game, the third base coach sends you, you have to go.

“I’m a mile down at home. Start walking back to the dugout and all I hear is “Oh you tough guy” and hooray…. I will never start anything, but I will be prepared to finish it. There’s a reason I do all sorts of fights in the off-season, to be prepared to beat the crap out of someone. So you can take it as it is.

While Pham still seemed to be stewing the food on his plate, Contreras seemed to have completely forgotten about it.

When Brewers reporters asked Contreras about the play, he seemed a bit confused at first, as if he had forgotten it had happened:

“You know, I wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying. I didn’t know what he was saying or what he was saying to me. I was just excited to play and went back to the bench,” Contreras said.

In response to a question about whether Pham was just yelling at him and the team, Contreras said: “I have no idea. I’m only worried about myself and my team. We’re winning this game, so I’m not sure.
