This Milwaukee Breweries MLB Pipeline’s top 30 prospect rankings were recently updated. MLB Pipeline also recently released its fresh top 100 rankings, which now include one 19-year-old shortstop from the Brew Crew who has had an incredible season so far.
A quick look at the updated Milwaukee Brewers Top 30 Player Rankings.
There’s a fresh No. 1 prospect on the Brewers’ top 30 prospect list, as currently injured catcher Jeferson Quero is at the top. The 21-year-old catcher underwent season-ending shoulder surgery after suffering an Opening Day injury in the minor leagues. Despite that, he’s now ranked higher than pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who’s No. 2 overall.
Rounding out the top five are infielder Tyler Black, shortstop Cooper Pratt and left-hander Robert Gasser. Pratt has made a huge jump up the order. He’s slashing .320/.414/.404 in Single-A this year and has reached base safely in 48 of his last 49 games.
Milwaukee Brewers player Cooper Pratt has been named one of MLB Pipeline’s top 100 players.
The Brewers’ newest addition to MLB Pipeline’s top 100 is Cooper Pratt. He’s currently ranked 96th overall, joining Tyler Black (34), Jacob Misiorowski (33), and Jefferson Quero (22) as the others in the top 100. Of that group, Pratt is the youngest and is currently in his first full season of professional baseball, having been selected in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft by Milwaukee.
Is Cooper Pratt the Brewers’ future shortstop?
During last year’s school showcase series, Cooper Pratt was compared to shortstop Gunner Henderson due to his size (6’4”) and good skills in all five skills. MLB Pipeline rated him 55 hit, 50 power, 50 run, 55 arm, and 55 field. Scouts believe he has what it takes to be a shortstop, and depending on what the Brewers’ roster looks like in a few years, he could very well be considered as their shortstop of the future.
He has the instincts to play deep in the hole at shortstop, and his sturdy arm also has the accuracy needed to make him a potential defensive asset. The Brewers have given him some early looks at second base to keep him in the middle, but his size and throwing ability could lend themselves to third base as well if future roster considerations dictate a move.
