The Milwaukee Brewers will soon have to make decisions on several arbitration-eligible players as the offer deadline is Friday, November 22. The organization will need to formally announce contracts for unsigned players for the following seasons by 7 p.m. ET, including arbitration-eligible players. If a player is not selected, he becomes a free agent. During this time, players and organizations often agree on salaries for the upcoming season and avoid arbitration, but contract negotiations can continue until mid-January if necessary.
Which Milwaukee Brewers players are eligible for arbitration this offseason?
When the Brewers’ season ended, they initially had 10 arbitration-eligible players. These players, their projected 2025 salaries, and a full explanation of what arbitration is can be found by clicking here. Since the start of the offseason, Milwaukee has parted ways with arbitration-eligible players Jake Bauers and Brys Wilson as they were released, unclaimed, reassigned to Triple-A and selected in free agency. Additionally, they declined club options on Devin Williams and Eric Haase, but they are still under team control and will go through the arbitration process.
Two Milwaukee Brewers players stand out as undrafted prospects
- LHP Hoby Milner stands out as a non-tender candidate
2024 has been a complex season for the usually reliable and heavily used southpaw reliever. In 61 games and 64.2 innings, Hoby Milner amassed a 4.73 ERA. Between his struggles and the emergence of lefty replacements Jared Koenig and Bryan Hudson, it seems likely that Milwaukee will not tender him a tender and save the estimated $2.7 million he is expected to earn in 2025.
- RHP Aaron Civale stands out as a non-tender prospect
Aaron Civale is expected to see a salary enhance in 2025, in which his final year of MLB Trade Rumors arbitration will net him approximately $8.0 million. That’s not an exorbitant price for a pitcher of his caliber, but for a budget-conscious team like Milwaukee, there’s a good chance they’ll look for ways to not pay that kind of money. They could offer him a contract and sell him later in the offseason, but if they’re concerned about not being able to find a trade partner, they might choose not to consider the tender instead.
What major off-season event comes after the bid deadline?
After the tender deadline, all undrafted players become free agents and can sign with any team. Major free agent signings typically don’t begin until the Winter Meetings; which will take place on December 9-11. The MLB Draft Lottery and Rule 5 Draft also take place during the Winter Meetings.
