This Milwaukee Breweries The pitching staff should get several players back from injuries in the near future. Currently, Devin Williams, Jared Koenig, DL Hall, Enoli Paredes, Joe Ross and JB Bukauskas are on the injured list. Of that group, both Williams and Koenig are on track to return shortly after the All-Star break.
Milwaukee Brewers: Devin Williams throws to live batters for first time.
On Tuesday in Milwaukee, Devin Williams threw to live batters for the first time in his recovery. He’s pitched to bullpens before, but facing opponents requires a whole novel level of intensity. His next steps include getting into live action by going into rehab for the injury, which could start as early as the weekend of July 12 and could extend well after the All-Star break.
Milwaukee Brewers: Jared Koenig will also return to the field right after the All-Star break.
Manager Pat Murphy had some good news about Jared Koenig, saying he is on track to return shortly after the All-Star break. He has been on the injured list since June 29, is scheduled to pitch in the bullpen on July 11, and there is no word yet on whether he will need to rehab for the injury or not. Koenig has been a surprising presence in the bullpen this year, as he had a 1.66 ERA in 38 innings pitched before being placed on the IL.
Other pitchers recovering include DL Hall and Joe Ross. Hall, whose last start in Triple-A was cut low by rain, is scheduled to pitch in his final rehab game July 9 and should be activated before the All-Star break. Ross pitched in his first rehab game from injury July 6 for the Timber Rattlers, threw 34 balls, and is not expected to return until behind schedule July at the earliest.
