This Milwaukee Breweries have dealt with numerous injuries to their pitching staff throughout the 2024 season. Veteran Wade Miley and prospect Robert Gasser have already undergone season-ending surgery, and now they’ve added another key member of their staff.
The 24-year-old Milwaukee Brewers reliever shared the news that he underwent surgery that ended his season.
Milwaukee Brewers player Abner Uribe took to Instagram to announce that he had season-ending knee surgery. It was reported a while back that he was battling a meniscus injury. Uribe indicated that Dr. ElAttrache performed the surgery on July 17, 2024, and that his season is over.

2024 was a learning season for Abner Uribe.
After finding success after being called up to the major leagues in July 2023, Abner Uribe struggled in 2024. Pat Murphy gave him his first chance to finish games, but he stumbled a bit, handed ninth-inning duties to Trevor Megill and finished the 2024 season with a 6.91 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched.
Additionally, Abner Uribe was suspended by Major League Baseball for his involvement in an on-field altercation with Jose Siri. Uribe was reassigned to the minor leagues a day later and did not serve the suspension. He will have to serve the suspension before playing in a major league game in 2025.

Abner Uribe has already undergone two knee surgeries during his professional career.
In 2022, Abner Uribe underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee. It cost him most of the season and is one reason he wasn’t known as a prospect. This year, he underwent surgery on his right knee. A pitcher’s meniscus repair can take 6 to 9 months (as 2022 has shown).
