Milwaukee Brewers: All fans say the same thing about Pat Murphy’s candid approach to the New York Mets

The 2024 MLB season is over for the Milwaukee Brewers. When they took a two-run lead in the seventh inning of Thursday’s game against the New York Mets, it looked like they were about to advance to the National League Division Series. However, disaster befell the Brewers in the ninth inning, with Devin Williams giving up four runs.

The Mets showed incredible resilience in the ninth inning, with Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso combining to put New York ahead.

Despite the pain of the loss, Murphy still delivered an elegant statement that is also a perfect example of what sportsmanship is all about.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s baseball,” Murphy said during his postgame press conference when asked about his emotions in the ninth inning.

“You have three players who are high-end players and [Francisco] Lindora, [Brandon] Nimmo i [Pete] Alonso. And, you know, they did what they did. Walk the base, hit an opposite-field homer,” Murphy continued.

“They did what they did. And I want to praise the Mets. That’s what this inning was all about, and it was all about the Mets. And they were great. And these three players are All-Stars. There’s a reason they have long-term contracts. You know, they’re great players and they’ve had a really tough time here, having to play extra games, and all the credit goes to the Mets.

Trailing 2-0 in the ninth, the Mets saw Lindor walk and start the inning. After Mark Vientos struck out, Nimmo had a single that pushed Lindor to third base. Alonso enters the scene and hits 100 yards with three home runs to give the Mets the lead. Starling Marte also recorded an RBI single that homered Jesse Winker and added some insurance to the Mets, who won by a score of 4-2.

Fans are reacting to Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy’s classy statement

A blank spot dug after the Brewers’ loss to the Mets in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“He seems like such a class act from every bit of the interview I’ve seen.”

“Cholera this is classyalmost makes me feel bad. Murphy and Chourio will change the Brewers’ lack of postseason success sooner rather than later. A great manager and generational player. Respect”

“This is there’s sportsmanship there

“A very elegant guy. Respect

“Between Mendoza and Murphy, I don’t think I’ve ever seen two more respectfulprofessional, down-to-earth managers in the league.”
