Milwaukee Brewers: Bob Uecker consoles team after 2024 playoff elimination.

Milwaukee Brewers legend Bob Uecker is a special person. His radio voice is a staple of summer shows in Wisconsin, where baseball fans watch games throughout the season. He is treated like one of the boys at the stadium, and after the Brew Crews’ devastating loss to the New York Mets in the playoffs, he consoled the team in the locker room.

The 2024 Milwaukee Brewers were eliminated from the playoffs by the New York Mets.

Under the leadership of first-year manager Pat Murphy 2024 Milwaukee Breweries it seemed like a special band. Nobody picked them to be very successful early in the year, and yet they finished first in their league for over 75% of the season, were division champions, and hosted a playoff series. In the Wild Card Series, they were three outs away from advancing to the Divisional Series, but Pete Alonso’s three-run home run gave the Mets a good inning, and Milwaukee lost 4-2.

Adam McCalvy, MLB.com reporter for the Brewerswrote that Bob Uecker was hanging around the locker room after the game. He started with Devin Williams. He then gathered with a group of players for an hour outside the training room to share hugs and tears. Players later reiterated how special Bob Uecker was and that he even managed to advise them with a joke.

“It was sad to hug him today after the defeat because he is also rooting for us. It was crazy because he told us a joke too, right after a sad moment. He always brings something. You never know with him.

With tears in his eyes, Christian Yelich shared how special his time spent with Bob Uecker was. Yelich said: “Every time he’s around it’s special. You shouldn’t take it for granted. He is the man. He means a lot to this place. Anyone who has spent any time here knows how special Bob is.”

With Bob Uecker promising the players to “see you next season,” they will have to take the words of comfort he provided, regroup and try to make the playoffs again next year.
