Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers 17-year-old listed as a 2025 breakout candidate

The Milwaukee Brewers left a number of key positions via trade and free agency this offseason. Devin Williams was traded to the Yankees and Willy Adames signed a six-year, $182 million contract with the San Francisco Giants, which turned out to be the largest contract in Giants history. The Giants got back some talent in the Williams trade, established starter Nestor Cortez and forward prospect Caleb Durbin, who may be able to lend a hand sooner rather than later.

The Brewers feel they can handle the infield with 26-year-old Joey Ortiz and 25-year-old Brice Turang, who won a Gold Glove at second base last year. Durbin will likely be able to play one of those infield spots if he can make the team out of spring training.

Another year of youth: brewers will rely heavily on juvenile cores

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio (11) celebrates his solo home run during the eighth inning of the wild card playoff game against the New York Mets on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. .

The Brewers have several mainstays in the starting lineup: Christian Yelich and William Contreras, but their lineup will largely rely on juvenile hitters. Jackson Chourio had a remarkable year last year, hitting .275 with 21 home runs and 79 RBI, while also collecting 22 bags in his first full year in the majors. Defensively, Chourio didn’t make a single mistake on the pitch last year out of 290 chances he had. Expect all of these numbers to augment in season two, and if he’s a little more patient and draws a few more walks, those stolen base numbers could skyrocket.

Brice Turang’s greatest attribute is his speed, last year wasn’t a good year for walks and OBP, but he still managed to steal 50 bases (good for 3rd in the league). His shots are not alarming, but he, like Chourio, needs to be more selective and attack more often. You should expect a .350 to .375 OBP, which doesn’t rule out 50+ stolen bases being possible. His power and gap shooting should improve with better pucks around him and more at-bats.

Also look for juvenile players like infielders Caleb Durbin and Tyler Black, catcher Jeferson Quero, and pitchers Logan Henderson and Carlos Rodriguez to make an immediate impact for the Brewers this year. I don’t think trading for another DH starter or hitter is out of the question.

Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers 17-year-old listed as a 2025 breakout candidate.

Selected brewers Created by Jesus from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic in this year’s international draft pool. Made is a 17-year-old hitter who can also play third base. He is a hitter with above-average power potential on both sides of the plate and a great sense of the strike zone. His slightly swinging upward motion allows him to hit the ball tough into the gaps.

He has a slim body in which he can accumulate more muscle and strength as he develops. Due to his supple hands and good footwork, he is considered an emerging defender with the potential to strengthen his hands. He has a chance to make a difference defensively. Jesus ranks as the 23rd best international player in all of major league baseball.

Jesus is the force in Rookie Ball: brewers excited about juvenile talents

During pre-draft training in the Dominican Republic, many heads were turning around Jesus Made. His straightforward swing and routine fielding was a thing of beauty that few 17-year-olds possess. In rookie ball, Jesus had a .331/.458/.554 OPS of 1.012 in 175 at-bats. He added 63 runs, 39 walks, 28 steals and 21 extra-base hits in 51 games. He has the potential to progress through the lower leagues very quickly, but should be ready to make an impact on the team for several years. The future is glowing for the Brewers and Jesus Made.
