Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers beat Braves 8-3

The Milwaukee Brewers opened a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday, 60-45. The Brewers were able to take a relentless 8-3 win in the first game of the series. That victory came after Milwaukee acquired Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Frankie Montas. With another quality starter in the rotation, there should be no reason the Brewers can’t win the NL Central. The team also acquired Colorado Rockies reliever Nick Mears.

The Brewers now have a seven-game lead in the NL Central. The Atlanta Braves are now 56-49. They are eight and a half games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East. It will be engaging to see if the Brewers can take advantage of this opportunity and win this series at home before they go on the road.

In the bottom of the first inning, Braves starting pitcher Grant Holmes threw a single out of play. It wasn’t until the top of the fourth inning that we saw the first score of the game, when designated hitter Marcell Ozuna crushed his 31st home run of the season to left field. An inning later, shortstop Orlando Arcia hit his ninth home run of the year to center field, giving Atlanta a 2-0 lead. A half-inning later, Brewers designated hitter Rhys Hoskins crushed his 18th home run of the season to left center field, tying the game at 2-1.
