The Milwaukee Brewers opened a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Milwaukee showed up on the road in the first game of the series, beating Atlanta in impressive fashion. The Brewers took a dominant 10-0 win. Some of the guys in the lineup took gigantic steps forward to get this solid win. It will be intriguing to see if the Brewers play like they have been playing all series.
Milwaukee is 63-49 with the impressive win. They are six games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the NL Central. Atlanta is 60-52 and six games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East.
Milwaukee Brewers sweep 10-0 win over Braves
In the top of the first inning, Brewers catcher William Contreras hit an RBI triple to right field. Two batters later, shortstop Willy Adames crushed his 18th home run of the season, a two-run shot to deep center field, to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead. In the next inning, Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz hit an RBI single to center field. An inning later, Adames hit his 19th home run of the year, another two-run home run to left center field, to give the Brewers a 6-0 lead.
The brewers’ attack continues
Brewers second baseman Brice Turang made it 7-0 in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single to right field. Two innings later, Contreras hit a two-run double to right field. He hit another RBI double in the top of the eighth to give Milwaukee a 10-0 lead. With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, the Brewers had a chance to do more damage, but center fielder Garrett Mitchell flew out to right field. Atlanta’s offense had no answer the entire game and couldn’t score a run.
Brewers’ top players win 10-0
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Colin Rea pitched for seven innings, allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out nine batters in the victory. Both Adames and Contreras finished with four RBIs each. Adames had four of five at the plate, while Contreras had three of four. Milwaukee collected 16 hits in the impressive victory. Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Bryce Elder pitched for three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six batters in the loss. Braves first baseman Matt Olson was the only batter to record multiple hits, going two of four.
