This Milwaukee Breweries They have lost their first two of three games to the Los Angeles Dodgers and are currently riding their worst three-game losing streak of the season. They have blown the lead in each game against the Dodgers, and Christian Yelich was involved in a game-changing play Saturday night. After the game, he explained what happened and why he should have made the play.
The Milwaukee Brewers give up two home runs tardy in a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Baseball is a game that changes quickly. In the top of the eighth inning, Christian Yelich hit the tying home run off Dodgers closer Evan Phillips. With the score 3-3, the Brewers turned to reliever Bryan Hudson in the bottom half of the inning. Unfortunately, the first batter Hudson saw was pinch hitter Miguel Vargas, who hit the leadoff home run. Shohei Ohtani followed with a walk-off home run of his own.
Christian Yelich had a chance to capitalize on a home run by Miguel Vargas.
The home run that Miguel Vargas hit covered a total of 368 feet. Watching the game live, it looked like Christian Yelich would catch the ball on the warning track. Unfortunately, his glove hit the lining of the wall as it was going up, and the ball bounced out for a home run. According to Adam McCalvy’s notes after the game, Yelich admitted that he should have just jumped.
Christian Yelich: “That sucks. I have to make that move. I thought I was underneath him. … I went to catch him and didn’t think I had to jump. I caught my glove on the shelf on the wall and got blocked. I should have just jumped.” photo:twitter.com/6mQJsJnZE6

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Bryan Hudson did not have a successful return to Dodger Stadium.
Bryan Hudson, a potential All-Star reliever this year, was acquired by the Brewers from the Dodgers in the offseason because Hudson was the odd man out after Los Angeles signed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He struggled in his first two games back at Dodger Stadium. He hit a game-tying home run on Friday night, and was responsible for the leadoff home run and then the safety on Saturday night.
The Brewers and Dodgers series ends on Sunday. Milwaukee has not lost four games in a row this season, so they will want to avoid that before they return home to face the Pittsburgh Pirates.
