Milwaukee Brewers fans are quick to pick 1 former favorite player; Demand that it be sold

The Milwaukee Breweries have fallen into a rut after losing just 5-5 in their last 10 games. However, they are still a game and a half ahead of the Chicago Cubs with a record of 27-20. Their 3-2 loss to the lowly Miami Marlins on Monday was called the worst loss of the season by many fans on social media. Even though Christian Yelich stole two bases, including a straight-up steal, the Brewers offense lacked timely hits and their defensive efforts were questioned.

Baseball is a game of streaks, especially considering that a season lasts 162 games. There are times when even the best hitters struggle before things get heated again. However, some slumps become habits, and often a batter reveals who he really is beyond a few heated streaks.

Many Brewers fans seem to be starting to view shortstop Willy Adames, once the team’s most beloved player, this way.

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames was once a fan favorite

Three years ago today, May 21, the Brewers acquired Adames in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. Adames, along with Trevor Richards, were intercepted for replacements Drew Rasmussen and JP Feyereisen. At the time of the trade, his mark for the Rays was .197/.254/.371. After arriving in Milwaukee, he hit .285/.366/.521 with 20 home runs and 58 RBI, and even earned some votes for National League MVP.

The following season, 2022, Adames put his name in the Brewers record books by breaking Robin Yount’s franchise record for home runs in a shortstop season. In 1982 he hit 29 bombs, but 40 years later Adames hit 31 bombs. However, Adames’ batting statistics dropped. His averages dropped to .238/.298/.458 in 2022 despite a high home run total.

Last season, Adames seemed to be in a slump that lasted the entire season. He hit just .217/.310/.407 with 24 home runs and 80 RBI.

Although Adames started this season well, he is in crisis. He was just 1 of 19 on the field in his last five games. His strikeout with a runner on third and less than two outs last night was the epitome of everything that went wrong in Milwaukee’s loss.

Milwaukee Brewers fans don’t want Willy Adames anymore

In 47 games this season, Adames is hitting .232/.309/.405 with seven home runs and 29 RBI. After he went 0-5 with three strikeouts against Miami, Brewers fans took to social media to express their frustration and say they would no longer mind if he was traded.

On the fan he wrote“Willy Adames sucks. Replace it Hader style. I don’t care what it does to the team’s morale. He might hit .220 with 25 HR on another team.

Another said“Willy Adames sold this game he sucks, the most overrated player on the team. That .275 average dropped very quickly.

And another one“Willy Adames is the most overrated brewer. Consistently fails to do simple things in the box. Too weak to be counted on as a hitter in this lineup. I’m tired of him.”

While fans may not care about team morale, they can rest assured that the front office does. Adames is an integral part of the culture in the locker room, especially with so many newborn players in the squad. While it will likely be too pricey for Milwaukee to keep him in free agency, losing him in the offseason will be a softer blow than a midseason trade.
