The Milwaukee Brewers failed to extend their winning streak to seven games after falling 10-6 in extra innings to the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night. The Brewers were already tasting another victory as they entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead and the ever-reliable Devin Williams on the mound to try to close out the contest.
However, Williams struggled as he allowed two earned runs on hits and issued three walks to waste a save. He was replaced by Trevor Megill, who fared no better. Megill walked two hitters before Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off grand slam to end the night and give the Cardinals the win.

Fans slammed Williams for his exceptionally needy performance on the field against the Cardinals:

“Devin Williams lost control and lost it fast. He walks Matt Carpenter and Tommy Pham to force two runs. It’s a tie. The bases are still loaded with two outs and Masyn Winn could get out of this game.”
“Devin Williams played so badly for the Brewers today, I wouldn’t be surprised if MLB was set up the same way as the NFL!”
