This Milwaukee Breweries they could operate a little luck on the injury front. Their starting pitching staff has been decimated by injuries, top catching prospect Jeferson Quero has undergone season-ending shoulder surgery, and outside shortstop Garrett Mitchell has yet to appear in a large league game.
Garrett Mitchell has been sidelined this year with a broken finger he suffered delayed in spring training. It took longer to heal than expected, but he has been rehabbing the injury since June 10. He had an injury scare on Wednesday, June 26, but was seen back in the Nashville Sounds starting lineup the next day.
On Wednesday, June 26, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell was dealing with an injury scare.
While rehabbing from injuries with the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate, Nashville Sounds’ Garrett Mitchell had some fun. The 25-year-old was 2-3 with a home run, a double, two walks and two outfield assists, entering the ninth inning batting. Unfortunately, he missed his final at-bat after swinging and grabbing his hamstring.

Garrett Mitchell returned to the Nashville Sounds starting lineup the next day, but was removed early.
One day after emerging from his final tackle clutching his hamstring, Garrett Mitchell was reintroduced into the Nashville Sounds starting lineup. He finished 1-2 in the match, but was removed early. No reason was given, but the Nashville Sounds trailed by eight runs in the bottom of the third inning and lost by a score of 10-0.
Garrett Mitchell has only a circumscribed number of days left in rehabilitation from his injury.
Players placed in a position assigned for injury rehabilitation receive a total of 20 days in the lower leagues before their organization must decide whether to activate them or move them to the lower leagues. Garrett Mitchell began his rehabilitation from his injuries on June 10. We’ll find out in the next few days whether the Milwaukee Brewers intend to call him up to the major leagues or exercise one of his three minor league options.
