This Milwaukee Breweries made several roster changes ahead of the series finale against the Colorado Rockies. Brewer Hicklen was one of the players affected by the team’s trades, as they moved him to Triple-A. Milwaukee then moved Christian Yelich to the 60-day injured list (freeing up a spot on the 40-man roster) and promoted Isaac Collins to the huge leagues. Collins was eligible to start Sunday’s finale and earned his first two MLB starts.
Isaac Collins recorded his first MLB hit and stole a base during his debut with the Milwaukee Brewers.
In his MLB debut, Isaac Collins started in left field and was placed eighth in the batting order. His first hit came in the second inning, where he singled. After a nice ovation from the fans at American Family Field, he proceeded to steal second base. Collins got another hit in the second inning, but did not reach base.
The Colorado Rockies originally selected Isaac Collins.
One of the hidden stories in Isaac Collins’ MLB debut was that he was facing the organization that originally drafted him: The Colorado Rockies selected him in the ninth round out of Creighton in 2019. The Milwaukee Brewers then acquired him in the 2022 Minor League Rule-5 Draft.
Isaac Collins blossomed with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Isaac Collins has had two impressive Minor League seasons since joining the Brewers. In 2023, he spent all but three games in Double-A (he saw three games of Triple-A action), where his season stats consisted of a .263/.419/.421 line with 77 walks to 56 strikeouts and 29 stolen bases. Before being promoted to Triple-A this year, he had a .273/.386/.476 line with 76 RBI and 24 stolen bases.
