Facing elimination at home against the New York Mets on Wednesday night, Chourio took his team on his shoulders and performed admirably. He hit a solo home run in the first inning that tied the game off a hit by Mets starter Sean Manaea.
Then, with the Brewers leading by a run again in the eighth inning, Chourio delivered another solo hit, driving deep into Mets reliever Phil Maton to tie the score at 3-3. The home run gave Milwaukee a boost and gave the Brewers a 5-3 victory behind Garrett Mitchell’s two-run home run.
So far in the series, Chourio is 4-of-8 with two home runs, three RBIs and just one strikeout.
Thanks in enormous part to Chourio’s heroics, the Brewers will remain alive in the 2024 MLB playoffs. Milwaukee and the Mets will play the final game of the National League Wild Card Round Series next Thursday.
