This Milwaukee Breweries They had already made one trade before July 30, when they acquired Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite bolstering their starting pitching lineup Robert Murray, MLB expert indicated that the team is still looking for “all of its pitchers” before the July 30 deadline.
Can “all rolls” include controllable players?
When the Brewers acquired Aaron Civale in exchange for prospect Gregory Barrios, they gained control of the pitcher through the 2025 season. Civale is still owned for about $2.34 million of his $4.9 million salary and regardless of the outcome of the 2024 season, he is due for a raise via arbitration in 2025. Milwaukee is a budget-conscious organization, and targeting controlled players takes the pressure off pitchers to perform exceptionally well over the last 2-3 months of the season. A few other controlled pitchers rumored this summer include Garret Crochet, Tyler Anderson, Frankie Montas, Cal Quantrill and Erick Fedde.

What pitching loan options could the Milwaukee Brewers be looking for?
The Brewers’ most obvious need is the starting rotation, but the all-pitching goal could extend to relievers as well. Players with expiring contracts who could be available via trade by July 30 include Luis Severino, Jack Flaherty, Yusei Kikuchi, Aroldis Chapman, Matt Moore, Tanner Scott and Carlos Esteves.

Will the Brewers get any pitchers back before the trade deadline?
The Brewers have been plagued by injuries this season, but they should get some of their numbers back in the near future. Enoli Parades and Jared Koenig are on the injured list with tendinitis, but are expected to return after the All-Star break. DL Hall, Joe Ross and JB Bukauskas are also recovering, as is closer Devin Williams. With all of these pitchers set to return in 2024, the Brewers should focus on some of the top pitching talent available via trade to give themselves the best chance at postseason success.
