The Milwaukee Brewers have struggled with numerous injuries to their starting rotation.
Before the start of the 2024 season, the Brew Crew re-signed Brandon Woodruff, knowing his chances of playing in 2024 would be long. Any ideas for his return this year were scrapped, and the team began to lose Wade Miley, Joe Ross. , Jakob Junis, Taylor Clarke, DL Hall, and most recently Robert Gasser until injury. As mentioned above, both Jim Bowden and Jon Heyman have reported that one Angels pitcher in particular will be traded this year. The player they are confident will be dealt is southpaw Tyler Anderson. He is currently in the second year of a three-year, $39 million deal and will earn another $13 million in 2025.

Across the league, other controlled lefties like Garrett Crochet and Jesus Luzardo will have the most steep trade packages in terms of prospect capital. This could open the door for Milwaukee to pursue a veteran like Tyler Anderson without sacrificing as much of its farm system. Additionally, his modest salary of $13 million for 2025 should be within the company’s financial limits, as they gave Wade Miley $8.5 million in free agency this winter.
The Brewers know Anderson from his Pittsburgh Pirates days, but he has really blossomed over the past few years. He was a 2022 Dodgers All-Star (2.57 ERA – 178.2 innings pitched), and his ERA is currently 2.63 in 13 starts this year with the Angels.

A number of players left the Angels farm system last year. They have traditionally done well early in the MLB draft, selecting players with good MLB prospects, but as usual they are lacking in international talent. With this deal, Los Angeles receives two international players from a Brewers squad that has Luis Lara seventh overall and Flippo Di Tura 29th overall.
Digging deeper Lara is a 19-year-old in the 2022 international passing class who hits contact from both sides of the plate. Flippo Di Turi signed in 2023 and has a 50-grade hitting tool. The 18-year-old recently earned a promotion to Single-A.
