The Milwaukee Breweries enter the game against the Chicago White Sox on Friday night 10 games over .500. With a record of 33-23, they are the only team in the Central Division of the National League that can boast a winning record. St. The Louis Cardinals are 27-27 and five games back; The Chicago Cubs are 28-30 and six games back; The Pittsburgh Pirates are 26-30 and seven games back; and the Cincinnati Reds are 25-32 and eight and a half games back.
Meanwhile, the White Sox are one of the worst teams in baseball with a record of 15-42. With Milwaukee being 5-2 in its last seven games and fresh off taking three of four from the Cubs, the team will be looking to continue its recent run of success against a team it undoubtedly should beat.
That being said, the Brewers struggled to score points and lost two of three games to the Miami Marlins 20-37 on their last trip. However, against the White Sox, they regain great strength that they have not had for over a few weeks.
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins activated for 10-day stint at Illinois
Hours before the Brewers’ first game against the White Sox, Milwaukee announced that first baseman Rhys Hoskins would forgo rehab and be activated after the 10-day IL:

As seen above, the Brewers sent Wisconsin native Owen Miller back to Triple-A Nashville in a similar move.
Hoskins has been sidelined since May 14 with a hamstring strain. While he was off duty, the Brewers used Jake Bauers and Miller at first base.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy had high praise for Rhys Hoskins before the game
Hoskins was one of the biggest free agent signings of the offseason, signing a two-year, $34 million contract with the Brewers (the second year is a player option). He returned to the pitch in 2024 after missing the entire previous season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
He missed the entire year and it was demanding to see him go on the IL for even a few weeks. Before Friday’s game, manager Pat Murphy had nothing but good things to say about Hoskins and his impact on the team:
“He was miserable not contributing.”

– Rhys Hoskins is back, man. One of our pillars. It’s a gigantic deal just because of who he is. It’s not just about experience and skill, it’s about who he is. Happy for him. He was unhappy. He was unhappy that he had not contributed.
– I mean, of course it helps us. Another right-handed bat, it is a sturdy bat and good at batting. It’s bat-shit quality. And the league knows it.”
“I love him all around. I love him around the guys and I love the way he competes. Is special.”
Hoskins is hitting .233/.340/.474 with nine home runs and 27 RBI this season. His nine goals scored are tied for the most on the team, along with stopper Willy Adames.
He returns to the lineup, batting sixth and playing DH.
