It was also not a good night for Brewers starter Colin Rea, who was punished on the field by the Dodgers’ relentless offense.

After the game, Brewers manager Pat Murphy shared his true feelings about Rea’s performance.

Via Associated Press (source: ESPN):

“He wasn’t the best, that’s for sure,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. “He threw the ball so well. He had one bad inning, but in typical Colin fashion, he got himself together and threw six innings for us. Other than that one inning, he threw the ball well.”

Rea suffered his biggest loss in the fifth inning, in which the Dodgers scored five runs. He left the mound after five innings of work, allowing seven runs on 10 hits (including four home runs) with four strikeouts. Rea is now 10-4 in 23 appearances (20 starts) in the 2024 MLB regular season with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.

Despite his struggles with the Dodgers, Rei’s 2024 season is shaping up to be his best in the huge leagues. He entered the game with the Dodgers with an ERA+ of 124. For comparison, he had an ERA+ of 88 in all of his previous seasons.
