The Milwaukee Brewers are simply winning. Pat Murphy’s team outlasted the Cincinnati Reds for the third straight game Saturday as the Brewers earned a thrilling 5-4 road victory to move to within one win on Sunday and end their winning streak over their National League Central division rivals.
Milwaukee had an early score in the third inning, but the game was tied 4-4 going into the ninth inning. Jackson Chourio then hit a solo home run that sailed 384 feet deep in the bottom of the inning, giving Milwaukee the lead for good.

“We’re not saying we’re more talented than other teams, we just find a way with someone different every night,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. “We have confidence in everyone.”
Brewers run away with hard-fought win, continue winning streak
Chourio put up quite a battle in that at-bat against Reds reliever Justin Wilson. After receiving the ball on the first down, Chourio was trailed by a strikeout and a foul. Two fouls and balls later, Chourio finally got the better of Wilson when he sent a 97 MPH four-seamer out of the park for what would become the game-winning run.
Frankie Montas started for the Brewers, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work on the mound. Aaron Ashby earned the pitching win after tossing two scoreless innings in Montas’ place before Devin Williams earned the save.
The Brewers, who had won five games in a row before Sunday, are now 80-56 and 10 games ahead of everyone in the NL Central Division.
