This Milwaukee Breweries were coming off a disappointing outing against the St. Louis Cardinals, where they lost the last two games of a three-game series. They got their bats going in the first game against the Oakland Athletics, when they put up lopsided numbers in three innings en route to an 11-3 victory.
The Milwaukee Brewers hit two straight home runs in a second inning in which they scored five runs.
With two runners on base and Rhys Hoskins at the plate, he crushed a three-run home run to put the Brewers on the board. One pitch later, Joey Ortiz also went deep. Milwaukee mounted a two-out rally in the fourth inning. After the first two batters of the inning were out, Sal Frelick hit a double, Jackson Chourio traded places with him, and then Blake Perkins hit an infield single, but Chourio scored on an error by the Athletics second baseman. That gave the Brewers a 7-1 lead.
The Milwaukee Brewers scored four more runs in the ninth inning.
