This Milwaukee Breweries on Sunday, July 28, will induct the former face of their franchise, Ryan Braun, into the Hall of Fame. He arrived a few days early ahead of the ceremony and was seen at American Family Field as the Brew Crew battled the Miami Marlins. At the time, he was asked in person if he thought his number would eventually be retired by the franchise.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun was asked about the possibility of the club retiring his number 8.
When asked about the possibility of the Brewers retiring #8, Ryan Braun said he wasn’t thinking that far ahead, he was thinking about his path to this point and that getting into the Walk of Fame was beyond anything he could have imagined. The full video of his response is available below.

How many players have been retired by the Milwaukee Brewers?
The Brewers currently have six players retired. They are No. 1 for owner Bud Selig, No. 4 for Paul MolitorNo. 19 for Robin YountNo. 34 for Rollie’s FingersNo. 44 for Hank Aaronand No. 42 for Jackie RobinsonAll these players are in the Hall of Fame.
When will Ryan Braun be eligible to vote for the Hall of Fame?
Baseball players are first eligible for Hall of Fame consideration five full seasons after their last appearance. Ryan Braun last played in 2020, so he won’t be eligible until 2026. After that, 75% of the vote is needed for induction into the Hall of Fame, and a player can remain eligible as long as he receives 5% of the vote each year (up to 10 voting cycles).
Ryan Braun is currently going through the process of being recognized as one of the Brewers’ best. He’s already on the Wall of Honor, and the Walk of Fame is the next step. From there, his Hall of Fame voting could largely depend on whether Milwaukee retires his number or not.
