Milwaukee Breweries Rookie starting pitcher Tobias Myers has had two of his best performances of the year in his last two starts. The result was back-to-back wins that proved he deserved not only to continue to be in the massive leagues, but also to remain in the starting rotation. A few weeks ago, all of that was in question as he was optioned to Triple-A.
Tobias Myers has put together back-to-back starts in which he has looked impressive.
On June 7 against the Detroit Tigers, Tobias Myers had the longest outing by a Brewers pitcher this year, throwing eight straight innings on 100 pitches. During this outing, he allowed just one hit, walked three and struck out five. Most recently, he threw six one-inning innings against the Blue Jays, allowing three hits on just 66 pitches. Ultimately, a fresh bullpen and a subsequent day off led to him being pulled after the sixth inning.
“I could have left him there, to be truthful, but we had a pretty fresh pen and we had a day off tomorrow. That’s why I felt good going with (Bryan) Hudson.

Robert Gasser’s injury allowed the Milwaukee Brewers to recall Tobias Myers from Triple-A early.
On June 1, the Brewers placed Tobias Myers in Triple-A. At this point, his ERA in six starts was 5.40 and he had failed to get past five innings four times. He also had one appearance outside the bullpen.
Typically, teams are unable to recall pitchers for at least 15 days after they have been optioned, but Robert Gasser was placed on the injured list on June 5. This move by the IL legally allowed Milwaukee to call Myers even though less than 15 days had passed.
Tobias Myers reveals one change he has made since being recalled from Triple-A.
Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic asked Tobais Myers about his key mix and whether he adapts to the repertoire that suits him. Stern specifically noted that since being recalled, he has cut down on his cutter usage and thrown more four-seam fastballs. Myers admitted that this was by design and noted that the cutter was relatively modern to him, so he was going back to what works.
Myers on the changes he made to his sound mix over the last two meetings:
“When I first got here, I used the cutter a lot… I think I’ll go back to living on the radiator and just try to locate it as best I can and let it all roll from there. I think this is where… https://t.co/qLWC6tlTot pic.twitter.com/It09a8UWzD

Assuming Tobias Myers remains in the Brewers rotation, his next assignment will be to take the mound on the road against the Los Angeles Angels.
