Alec Bohm of the Philadelphia Phillies has been popping up in trade rumors as a potential candidate for some time now, but currently MLB winter games it was announced that it was not being purchased.
Philadelphia Phillies Alec Bohm ‘not being shopped’
On MLB Network, Phillies manager Rob Thompson said: “I know there are rumors everywhere. We are not buying Alec Bohm.” He also went on to note that Bohm has developed physically and mentally over the last three to four years, his defense has come a long way, and his ability to make contact makes him an extremely valuable asset to his team.

Does this news preclude the Milwaukee Brewers from acquiring Alec Bohm?
No, but the Phillies’ asking price could be much higher than expected. Rob Thomson went on to say that they are receiving offers for Alec Bohm and are listening to them. Bob Nightengale previously reported that Philadelphia included Bohm in an offer to the Chicago White Sox that included Garrett Crochet, but it was rejected. To me, this means that any deal involving Bohm will have to include at least one significant MLB player who will be best served by having many more years of team control left.
Is a Devin Williams/Alec Bohm trade being considered?
Before the start of the Winter Meetings, a hypothetical trade of Devin Williams to Philadelphia and Alec Bohm to Milwaukee seemed like a reasonable solution given each team’s needs. However, the Phillies have since acquired former All-Star Jordan Romano. While Philadelphia continues to look for help, it is now clear that with Devin Williams only having one year of team control remaining, acquiring Alec Bohm may require a package that includes Williams, an MLB player or MLB-ready prospect, as well as an additional prospect The Phillies considered moving him.
