The Milwaukee Breweries came from behind to beat the Cincinnati Reds on Father’s Day. The victory gave the Brewers their eighth win in the series against a division rival, while improving their season record to 42-29 and dropping the Reds’ record to 34-37. In this game, Colin Rea had a really good performance, Willy Adames hit a three-run home run, and the game ended with a home pitch, requiring William Contreras to be examined by the medical staff.
Colin Rea made his fifth straight start for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Despite Colin Rei’s two throwing errors in this game, he once again performed brilliantly on the mound. He threw six innings, gave up four hits, one walk, struck out six and was tagged in with two earned runs (three total runs – one unearned run). His consistency was very vital for the Brewers, and this performance was his fifth consecutive solid start.
Willy Adames’ three-run home run gave the Milwaukee Brewers a tardy lead against the Cincinnati Reds.
The Brewers were down 1-3 in the sixth inning. Reds starting pitcher Frankie Montas was acute through the first five innings, but after the Milwaukee Brewers scored the first two runs in the sixth, he was removed and replaced by reliever Lucas Sims. Willy Adames proceeded to send Sims’ first throw through the wall.

William Contreras had to be examined by medical staff after recording his last home match.
After Adames’ outburst, the Brewers added insurance courtesy of Christian Yelich’s RBI single. That extra run proved crucial when Reds star Elly De La Cruz scored in the eighth set and the match ended 5-4.

In the ninth inning, closer Trevor Megill had to deal with some movement in the bases, but ultimately saved the run with a game-ending play to home plate. With two outs and a tying runner (Stuart Fairchild) on second, a base hit was recorded in center field. Fairchild was waved into third place and drove home with no problem, but the armpit and shoulder area struck William Contreras in the head area. Contreras had control of the ball, but remained in possession for a while and had to be attended to by medical staff.
The Brewers defeated the Reds 5-4 to win the series.
William Contreras put his armpit/arm to his head/neck area, but after looking at him, he stood up and celebrated with his teammates.

After this play at the end of the game, William Contreras was depressed (the runner was out of the game). A bit over-the-top, unfortunately. pic.twitter.com/Y5C7uvsOgN

Post-match manager Pat Murphy announced that William Contreras was being assessed for concussion. If he is unable to go, Gary Sanchez will be his replacement. The only other catcher on the 40-man roster is Jeferson Quero (injured), so if the concussion is confirmed and Contreras has to go on the injured list, they’ll have to add another catcher.
