This Milwaukee Breweries shutout for the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. Colin Rea delivered seven robust shutout innings and Jakob Junis notched a multi-inning save from the bullpen. The Brew Crew pulled out the win despite shortstop Willy Adames watching from the clubhouse because he was ejected in the fifth inning.
Willy Adames was ejected in the fifth inning of the Milwaukee Brewers-Colorado Rockies game.
With the bases loaded and no one out, Willy Adames entered the dugout in the fifth inning, hoping to break the game wide open, 2-0. Unfortunately, he was met with a strikeout on his fourth out. It was his third strikeout of the game, and on his way back to the dugout, he was thrown out by home plate umpire Mark Ripperger.

Why was Willy Adames so upset about this strikeout that he was ejected?
In the five innings Willy Adames has played, he has been pulled from the game after every at-bat by a strikeout. On two occasions, including the last at-bat, he has been down looking. He exchanged a few words with Mark Ripperger after his strikeout in the third inning, in which, according to the TV strike tracking, the throw appeared to be a ball. So while Adames was clearly pulled from the game by a true strikeout in the fifth inning, he was feeling frustrated after the previous at-bat. He is also in the midst of a 5-38 slump over the last nine games.
Willy Adames has been ejected only twice during his MLB career.
Last year, Willy Adames was ejected for the first time in his career after a brutal sequence that included a pair of pitch clock violations that ultimately led to a strikeout. Adames was extremely frustrated with umpire Adam Beck during that game. His ejection against the Colorado Rockies wasn’t as harsh and was likely more about him breaking down and being pulled from the game after two strikeouts in two boundary pitches.
