Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames had a great performance Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. He made an immediate impact by hitting a three-run home run in the first inning to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead and aid Milwaukee to a 9-3 victory.
It was quite a way to celebrate Adames’ birthday, who turned 29 on Sunday. With that first-inning blast, Adames extended his home run streak to five games. He is just the third player in Brewers history to do so, joining Jeromy Burnitz and Eric Thames in the notoriously exclusive club. Burnitz and Thames did it in 1997 and 2017, respectively.
“For the first time in my career, I felt a little emotional,” Adames said of his accomplishment, according to the Associated Press (source: ESPN).
“It’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. Just doing these amazing things.”
Fans react to Willy Adames’ home run
Adames went viral on X (formerly Twitter) after hitting a home run on his birthday, and Brewers and baseball fans in general celebrated his masterpiece.
