The Milwaukee Brewers managed just a few runs in a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the first game of the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
In Game 2 of the series on Saturday, the Brewers had no trouble scoring runs, beating the D’backs 15-8, with Willy Adames being one of Milwaukee’s best players.
Adames was three-for-three, including two home runs, a walk and five RBI.
“It’s been amazing,” Adames said of his season with the Brewers, according to the Associated Press (source: ESPN). “It’s been a special year for me and the team.”
With 32 home runs (and counting) in the 2024 season, Adames set a fresh career high. His previous record was 31 blasts in the 2022 MLB season, when he also slashed .238/.298/.458 and had an OPS+ of 110.
So far in the 2024 campaign, Adames, who turned 29 in early September, is averaging .253.334/.476 with an OPS+ of 122. He is set to become a free agent this coming offseason, so any great thing Adames does on the field bolsters his resume as he looks to sign a massive contract.
Milwaukee Brewers looking to beat Diamondbacks
The Brewers, who are riding a three-game winning streak, could sweep Arizona this Sunday when they put DL Hall on the mound. Hall is 1-1 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks will hand the ball to Zac Gallen, who is 12-6 with a 3.55 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP.
The Brewers lead the National League Central Division with an 11-game lead and an 86-62 record.
