There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks, with some saying their championship window is closing quickly as another penniless season could see Giannis Antetokounmpo break out to another team.
The Bucks are doing everything they can to make sure Giannis plays his entire career in Wisconsin, but the prospect of playing with the likes of Stephen Curry may be too tempting for a player who is focused on winning championships.
The Golden State Warriors aren’t the only team interested in acquiring Giannis’ services, but they are the most likely candidates to pull off such an absurd trade. However, one team recently put its name in the Giannis sweepstakes, and it presents an intriguing situation for NBA fans everywhere.
San Antonio Spurs Join Pursuit of Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo
Jonah Kubicek from Athlon Sports published an article suggesting the Spurs could make the Bucks an offer they can’t refuse if Giannis wants to leave after the 2024-25 season.
He detailed what the deal would look like if it goes through:
If the Spurs decide to take a chance and win now, they could offer the Bucks a package full of draft picks in exchange for the greatest player of all time, who is currently in his prime.
To get Antetokounmpo off the Bucks, the Spurs would have to part with a number of adolescent talents. Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson and Zach Collins, as well as at least six first-round draft picks, could be enough to get a deal done, although it’s more than likely the Bucks would also want Devin Vassell or Stephon Castle.
While many Bucks fans would rather choke than let Giannis go, many NBA fans would both love and fear it. Both players are athletic freaks who can hurt opposing defenses in different ways, and dealing with them would be a nightmare.
If the Bucks are forced to make a decision they don’t want to make, the impressive numbers from the Spurs will aid them start rebuilding. They could also get the building blocks they need to move on from Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton.
While this would be a nightmare scenario for most Milwaukee Bucks fans, at least they would get a ton of picks and players that could aid them rebuild their team sooner rather than later.
