Unlike other NBA teams, the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t exactly made a splash this offseason. Even if they have, the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led team has simply gotten better for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
Bucks came in 2023-24 season with high expectations. Led by Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee is poised for another deep postseason run, especially after acquiring All-Star Damian Lillard.
This created a risky duo with the Greek Freak, but the team struggled to find cohesion early on. As soon as 2024 began, the Bucks surprisingly fired Griffin despite having the second-best record in the NBA at the time. They quickly hired Doc Rivers as their up-to-date head coach.
Despite securing a playoff spot, Milwaukee faced even greater adversity when Antetokounmpo injured his calf overdue in the regular season, leaving the team shorthanded. first round match against the Indiana Pacers. Lillard also missed the playoffs due to injury, and the Bucks ultimately lost to the Pacers in six games, suffering their second straight first-round loss.
The Bucks’ tumultuous season included a coaching change, a major trade and key injuries that derailed their playoff run. They’ll look to regroup and bounce back stronger in the 2024-25 campaign.
Why the Milwaukee Bucks got better in the 2024 offseason
Despite the departures of Malik Beasley and Patrick Beverley, this has been a good, if unspectacular, season for Milwaukee, with an article by NBA Bleacher Report crediting the Bucks with improving ahead of the upcoming campaign.
“Much of the 2023-24 Milwaukee Bucks season has been marked by disappointment. They have underperformed, both internally and externally. But despite all the hype about whether they should break up the core, this team is well-positioned to demonstratively to correct.
Keeping the same coach for the entire season will do a lot of good in itself. The Giannis Antetokounmpo-Damian Lillard dynamic will improve. And if not, Lillard still has a chance for a more convincing campaign.
Age-34 seasons are not usually conducive to improvement. But the learning curve, both on and off the court, shouldn’t be that steep. More generally, Damian Lillard, of all people, won’t be able to less than 33 percent his three-point shots again.
Lost time is now an inevitable part of Khris Middleton’s experience. But he deserves a 60-plus game season. And despite not accomplishing much last season, the Bucks still took care of business with their best guys on the court. Milwaukee opponents will score more points by 16.3 points per 100 possessions with Antetokounmpo, Lillard, Middleton and Brook Lopez on the court.” an article in Bleacher Report stated,.
As it stands, continuity has been a key factor in helping the Bucks improve. The additions of Gary Trent Jr. and Delon Wright have also bolstered their offense, which can only be good against other contenders in the league.
The question remains how Milwaukee will fare against various NBA teams when the new season begins. In any case, the Bucks won’t be viewed the same way as before if all goes according to plan.
