One thing about Charles Barkley is that there is no “pause” button. The NBA legend will say whatever he wants, whether it’s popular or controversial. Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo recently got a taste of Barkley’s candor when the Hall of Famer was a guest on Bill Simmons’ podcast (source: TJ Morin from The Sporting News).
“I’m not interested in Milwaukee at all… I’m not a Milwaukee fan… I think Giannis has to become a better basketball player, you can’t just run all over the court and play 1-on-5 every time.”
Would Charles Barkley like to see Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo become a credible three-point threat?
Antetounmpo is certainly one of the best players of his generation. And with two MVP awards and an NBA ring, he has a claim to being one of the best in league history. Plus, he’s only 29. But one of Antetokounpo’s flaws is his lack of reliable perimeter play.
Only 14.9 percent of his career field goal attempts have come from beyond the arc. Antetokounmpo also has a terrible 28.6 percent shooting percentage from deep. It seems like Barkley wants Antetokounmpo to improve that part of his game, but as long as the Greek Freak continues to play at a high level, even without a reliable long-range shot, he will always be a threat to any team whenever he’s on the court.
