Milwaukee Bucks: Doc Rivers points to ‘phenomenal’ weapon that could be the surprise of the 2024-25 NBA season

The Milwaukee Bucks will go as far as veteran duo Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo takes them, but it’s also true that these two can’t do everything for the team.

There’s still a lot of focus on what their supporting cast can do in the upcoming 2024-25 season, and one unannounced player head coach Doc Rivers seems ready for is defenseman AJ Green.

“I think overall we had a great summer. I think overall AJ Green had an amazing summer,” Rivers said. for Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We saw him all summer. He was phenomenal.”

Last season, Green averaged just 4.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per game, but he was capable of shooting from deep, connecting on 40.8 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc on 1.2 attempts per contest. Entering his third year in the league, Green saw a larger role on the team.

“But all our young guys put in some time, traveled. They were in Portland hanging out with Dame, they were in Greece with Giannis, they went to Phoenix where Dame was camping. They were in Los Angeles for five days, practicing with all of our guys. They were a traveling band and they all left. And it was absolutely wonderful,” Rivers continued.

“We’ve been in town for three weeks now, all you guys, playing pick-up games. Some coaching, but more pickup games. And the one thing I think everyone sees when they look around is, damn, there’s a lot of competition in this gym. And this is the most important part from our point of view. I think everyone sees that and I think it will make the camp really competitive.”

The Bucks are in training camp in Irvine, California and are determined to be as prepared as possible for the upcoming 2024-25 season in which they will look to regain their stats as a top contender for a back-to-back first-round title. exit from the play-offs.
