The Milwaukee Bucks have been without superstar point guard Damian Lillard for several games. He missed his fourth straight game Thursday during a home opener at Fiserv Forum against the visiting Brooklyn Nets, with the future Basketball Hall of Famer dealing with an illness.
In addition to his illness, Lillard is reportedly struggling with lower body issues. Before the Nets game, however, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers provided encouraging news about Lillard’s calf.

Will Damian Lillard play tonight?
Dr. Rivers: “I don’t think so.”
Is the right calf strain at least progressing?
Doc Rivers: “(Right) calf is fine.”
Lillard most recently participated in the 2024 NBA Cup Finals in Las Vegas against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Lillard scored 23 points, four rebounds and four assists on 6-of-12 shots from the floor to assist Milwaukee defeat the Thunder 97-81.
Lillard’s next chance to return to action will be Saturday against the Chicago Bulls in the Windy City.

Without Lillard and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis AntetokounmpoThe Bucks had difficulty repelling the Nets’ attack They won in Milwaukee 111:105. Khris Middleton led Milwaukee with 21 points, while Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez scored 18 and 20 points, respectively.
Milwaukee struggled with ball security, committing 23 turnovers. The Bucks built a 13-point lead over the Nets, but did not have enough firepower to keep up with the Nets’ offense, especially in the fourth quarter when Brooklyn outscored Milwaukee by 12 points.
