Relatively speaking, the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t had much success this offseason. While the Bucks have signed players like Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince and Delon Wright, these additions don’t move things much for Milwaukee. The Bucks also seem to be overlooked as a top title contender in some circles.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers realizes his team is sometimes ignored in discussions about legitimate title contenders, but that doesn’t bother him. For Rivers, it provides additional motivational fuel for the Bucks, who are eager to regain the respect lost during the disappointment of the 2023-2024 season.
“We are all paying attention to this. We see it,” said Rivers, per Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“We read it. You notice you don’t play on Christmas Day. There are lots of little things you can use. I don’t think I need to use them. I think it will self-serve, if you know what I mean. Ultimately, everyone is 0-0 and that’s how the season starts, right? I’m more focused on us and being the best team we can be, and ultimately he’ll be the one talking about everything. And that’s how I look at our team.”
The Milwaukee Bucks are preparing for a massive rebound despite a serene offseason
The Bucks took a step – or several steps – back last season. After winning 58 games in 2022-23, Milwaukee went just 49-33 in 2023-24, even with the addition of future Hall of Famer point guard Damian Lillard. Nevertheless, the Bucks are a team worth keeping an eye on. With Rivers and Lillard having a full offseason this time around and Giannis Antetokounmpo still leading the team on the court, Milwaukee is a force to be reckoned with.
According to ESPN, the Bucks have +1300 odds to win the 2025 NBA title. For comparison, current NBA champions Boston Celtics are priced at +340 to win the championship again.
