Milwaukee Bucks explain shooting woes with ‘sleeper target’ in intriguing proposal

The Milwaukee Bucks need capable scorers to support two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and elevate the team’s offense. In this context, acquiring Corey Kispert from the Washington Wizards could be an ideal move for the franchise.

Kispert, the 15th overall pick 2021 NBA Draft, became known as a three-point specialist for the Washington Wizards. From the very beginning, he showed his skills from behind the arc, attacking 38.3% his attempts this season.

The Wizards forwards’ willingness to make threes, not just their offensive percentage, played a key role in disrupting opposing defenses. In fact, he was among the top 25 players in the league in three-pointers per possession.

In addition to his three-point shooting, Kispert has also proven to be an effective shooter, posting a career-best field goal percentage of 60.2%. He was particularly effective around the rim, converting 78.7% of his attempts, and was also successful on the float shot, hitting 52.5% from 10-10 feet.

Although Kispert is a thoroughly contemporary player, as 80% of his shots come from his preferred positions on the court, he does have some limitations. His defensive impact and playmaking skills are somewhat circumscribed, and his rebounding is also an issue. However, for the right team, a forward’s exceptional shooting skills can still be of significant value, especially during the regular season.

For Antetokounmpo to be effective on the court, he must be surrounded by talented scorers. The Bucks’ office it can do this by acquiring Kispert, as detailed in Tyler Watts’ article for Behind The Buck Pass.

“Kispert’s minutes dropped off in year three, even as Washington leaned toward a rebuild. His counting numbers have improved, but his lack of playing time could be a sign that he’s not part of the Wizards’ future. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 13.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 25.8 minutes per game while shooting 48.6% from the field and 38.3% on attempts. three points.

Kispert has struggled defensively and has had a negative VORP in two of his first three NBA seasons. The Wizards have been a mess in recent years, and the 15th overall pick in 2021 could end up being a winner. His shot may be purely about spacing the floor and offensive weapons, but the Bucks need all the help they can get.

With limited draft capital and a second tax apron looming, the Milwaukee Bucks need to take what they can get. This may even involve purchasing a cheaper option that is struggling in the hope that he can turn things around.” Watts wrote.

Acquiring Kispert and integrating him into head coach Doc Rivers’ system could do wonders for his career. If he gets a chance to play for a winning team, the former Gonzaga star could prove to be a reliable player on offense and a capable defender on the other end.

Time will tell whether Kispert will find a recent home in Milwaukee, stay in Washington, or maybe end up in a recent city. Either way, the Bucks should keep a close eye on the forward if he becomes available.
