It’s clear to any Milwaukee Bucks fan that their team won’t be competing for an NBA title without Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek freak has been a key part of their success over the past five seasons, and they’ll want to fight anyone who dares to badmouth their star.
But everyone knows that people will have heated opinions about a certain player that not everyone will like. That’s exactly what Kevin Garnett did when he talked about Giannis as one of the best players in the Eastern Conference.
The former NBA champion boldly stated that the Greek Freak is not the best player in the East, claiming that players like Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum are better than him. He explained his stance recent conversation with former Celtics teammate Paul Pierce:
“You can’t say that about Embiid there. And Jayson Tatum [too]. I don’t question that.
“He’s probably the fourth best player in the East. [Are] “You’re taking Giannis over Tatum? Or are you taking him over Embiid?”

Bucks fans immediately came to the defense of their star forward on social media.

Another fan went even further and compared KG’s playoff history to Giannis’:
Garnett, man… you’re mad that he was compared to someone better than you.
You claim you got knocked out of the first round twice while he played in 3 games in those series. And then you trade Embiid who NEVER WAS ECF…. man…

Fans will also argue that the stats tell a different story than the one KG is promoting. Antetokounmpo ended 2023-24 campaign with an average of 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks.
The claim that the “Greek Freak” doesn’t deserve to be at the top is absurd, and Bucks fans have every right to be offended by Garnett’s opinion.
