Milwaukee Bucks forced to dismiss latest Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors

The Milwaukee Bucks will be exploring all options this summer as they look to field an improved squad for the upcoming season. Recent reports from Hollywood indicate that the Los Angeles Lakers may be willing to part with forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who played just 29 games in an injury-riddled 2023-2024 campaign.

Despite his injury issues, Vanderbilt could be the type of player who would fit in perfectly with the Bucks’ current lineup.

Lakers insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic recently reported that Vanderbilt could be on a trade lock this summer. The 25-year-old could play a significant role in Los Angeles’ potential rebuild this season as they also look to strengthen their squad ahead of the fresh season.

In a season and a half with the Lakers, Vanderbilt averaged 6.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 21.6 minutes per game.

According to Dalton Sell of Behind the Bucks Pass, Milwaukee should make every effort to acquire the potential Lakers forward. Sell argues that Vanderbilt’s biggest advantage to the Bucks is his ability to defend multiple positions – a trait that Milwaukee’s defense could greatly benefit from:

“Since the departure of P.J. Tucker, the Bucks have missed a capable wing defenseman taking on difficult tasks night. They tried players like Semi Ojeleley, Jae Crowder and Wesley Matthews, and the last name was by far the most successful, but none of them could match what Vanderbilt would bring to the table in Milwaukee,” Sell wrote.

Sell also points out that Vanderbilt will be owed just $10.7 million next season, making him an inexpensive option for the Bucks. The versatile 6-foot-8 forward is also under contract through 2028, which means Milwaukee won’t have to worry about losing him in free agency anytime soon if they decide to trade for him this summer.
