Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo admits to 1 inevitable problem

When Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Finals in 2021, many people thought about it Giannis Antetokounmpo would have another one in a few years. But what came after that was a second-round exit from the NBA playoffs in 2022 and two more first-round exits in 2023 and 2024. The Bucks have aged since their last title, and that’s something that hasn’t escaped the attention of the two-time NBA MVP.

“We’re getting older. We’re not getting any younger, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to play at a high level,” Antetokounmpo said, per Jamal Collier of ESPN.

“It’s hard to say, ‘Yeah, we’re old and you have to make changes.’ Because these guys are beasts.”

The Bucks haven’t made much of a splash in the offseason. Some of the names they’ve added since the end of the 2023-24 season include Gary Trent Jr., Delon Wright and Taurean Prince. Those deals aren’t necessarily for Milwaukee’s rivals, so it’ll still depend on how well the guys left at the top, including Antetokounmpo, play.

Antetokounmpo is 29 years aged, turning 30 in December. He has at least a few years of great basketball ahead of him, but then again, he’s not getting any younger. The Bucks will need to make the most of what’s left of the Greek’s prime.

In an ideal world, the Bucks would have made bigger name acquisitions this offseason, but Milwaukee hasn’t done so because the team’s front office doesn’t have the resources or salary cap flexibility to facilitate such moves. Milwaukee also has more than $17 million in cap space and $6.5 million in cap space.
