Much was expected from the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023-24 NBA season after they acquired one of the greatest defenders in league history in Damian Lillard. However, his first season with the Bucks alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo did not go as smoothly as everyone had hoped.

Lillard and Antetokounmpo’s stylistic differences as two offensive powerhouses made this a challenge for the Bucks. However, Antetokounmpo is confident that he and Lillard are ready to make it work now as Milwaukee prepares for the second year of the Dame-Greek Freak duo.

“I think we’re in a very, very good place right now,” Antetokounmpo said. “We never had a player like him before. It’s just something that slowly, slowly, over time you can understand. It’s definitely tough for me to change habits when I’m 29 and he’s 34 at this point in our careers, but if you want to win, you have to do it. I think both of us – me, him and the rest of our team – are willing to do everything to win.
In the 2023-24 NBA season, Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 30.4 points on 61.1% shooting from the floor, while Lillard was second on the team with 23.3 points per contest, although he shot just 42.4% from the field . The Bucks are hoping for better performance from Lillard in the upcoming season, which partly depends on how he and Antetokounmpo play against each other.
