The Milwaukee Bucks are 13-11 on the season after a disastrous 2-8 start to the season that included a frustrating six-game losing streak. While things seemed bad early on, it’s tough to deny the fact that the Bucks are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now, winning eight of their last 10 games and 11 of their last 14.
Leading Milwaukee’s team this season, both through the peaks and through the valleys, was a superstar, two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. The eight-time All-Star is averaging a league-best 32.7 points per game while also averaging 11.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.
As has been the case for years, the national media does not appear to be joyful that such a prolific player has chosen the NBA’s smallest market as his home. Even before (and especially during) his six-game losing streak, analysts and talking heads were wondering aloud when Giannis would demand a trade from Milwaukee.
And the Greek freak has had enough of them.
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will appear on ESPN
Giannis’ older brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, is currently out of the NBA due to a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in the offseason. However, he still hosts his popular podcast “Thanalytics”, where he talks about Bucks basketball, the NBA and life.
In his latest episode, Thanasis was surprised in the studio by Giannis himself, who joined the show to discuss the season so far, his wedding in Greece this summer, and the NBA’s national media (specifically, ESPN).
Near the end of the show, Giannis launched into a tirade about how he and his wife were harassed by photographers in Greece after their wedding. Photographers became upset when the NBA star asked for privacy on his honeymoon.
He then went on to talk about ESPN and those in the national media who are constantly trying to create a narrative that Milwaukee no longer wants to play.
“I’m very happy that we have someone [Thanasis] in our family who is a great advocate. This can clear things up for me, my mom, my brothers, my close friends, my agents, my team, my organization, my city, my country, everyone.
“I also want you to go on First Take, a popular show on ESPN, one day, Thanasis. “Go to First Take, sit at the table (they love you there) and I’m not kidding.
“I’m tired of walking into a facility and seeing ‘First Take’ on everyone’s TV and them saying ‘blah, blah, blah.’ “I’m tired of this.”
Giannis then described how he and the Bucks are talked about with great praise and admiration when they win. But he also talked about what he hears from analysts when Milwaukee loses.
“They suck! Get them out of here! Trade Giannis! He has blood on his hands and no one wants him! He can’t shoot, he’s a bad teammate. Zero IQ.
“Guys, yesterday I was the best player in the world.”
