Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has done almost everything in his decorated career. But there’s one thing he hasn’t done: represent his country in the Olympics.
That’s exactly what the former NBA MVP will be doing in the coming weeks as he leads Greece to what he hopes will be a close gold medal match.

With Greece set to open the tournament on Saturday against a powerful Canadian team, Antetokounmpo couldn’t facilitate but reflect on the journey he took to get to where he is today. In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, the eight-time All-Star reminisced about his humble beginnings.

To say that Giannis had a challenging life growing up in the Sepolia district of the Greek capital Athens would be an understatement. Antetokounmpo lived in poverty, which makes his rise to the top all the more remarkable. Perhaps even Giannis himself never dreamed of reaching the heights he has already reached at this point in his career.
However, his journey is far from over, and his upcoming Olympic appearance is another essential step in Giannis’ quest for stardom.
