Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo made a shocking statement regarding the Greek national team

The Milwaukee Bucks The 2023-24 NBA season has come to an unexpected premature end. Much like last season’s disappointment, they were sent home in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, this time at the hands of the Indiana Pacers. Disappointment with last season resulted in the firing of head coach Mike Budenholzer, who was recently hired by the Phoenix Suns.

There’s no telling what the fallout from this year’s disappointing loss will be, but current head coach Doc Rivers has already fired at least three assistant coaches who worked last season.

Unfortunately, the Bucks weren’t at full strength at any point in their series against the Pacers. Khris Middleton was able to play the entire series but was dealing with various leg injuries. Damian Lillard played most of the series, but missed the game with an Achilles tendon injury, which also severely restricted him in the final games of the series.

Of course, Milwaukee has had an uphill battle throughout the series due to the mantle injury that Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered overdue in the regular season. The two-time MVP missed the final few games of the year and then missed the first round of the playoffs.

After the Bucks were eliminated, it turned out he wasn’t ready to play yet.

With the NBA Finals starting this month, it was also revealed that Giannis was ready and robust to return to the court.

Last week, Giannis made headlines when he was seen supporting his brother Kostas Antetokounmpo, whose team Panathinaikos won the Europa League final. He also expressed interest in buying a team in the Greek Basketball League one day.

As it turns out, Giannis’ basketball activities in Greece this summer are not restricted to just watching his brother and planning his future plans after retirement. At Saturday’s press conference, Vassilis Spanoulis (who is the head coach of the Greek national team) he told the media that Giannis, the best basketball player in the country, will play for the team in the Pre-Olympic Tournament.

Yes, Giannis will be present in the national team,” he said.

It is unclear whether Giannis will compete in the Olympics himself. The tournament he is participating in will take place on July 2-7. The Olympic Games themselves will start on July 26.

In any case, it’s great to see that Giannis has recovered and is ready to play basketball again. Let’s hope he avoids further injuries in the upcoming tournament.
