Milwaukee Bucks Icon Hops On AJ Johnson’s Hype Train

Milwaukee Bucks rookie AJ Johnson is far from a household name in the United States. The fact that the 19-year-old chose the international route instead of playing college football in America likely has a lot to do with it.

The Bucks, however, have invested heavily in the 6-foot-4 shooting guard after using their 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the teenage man right now, which has even made Bucks icon Brandon Jennings jump on the hype train.

The Bucks suffered a brutal 115-20 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday, which turned out to be Milwaukee’s fourth straight loss in the NBA Summer League. Johnson had his moments in the game, though, as the rookie finished with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes of play.

Johnson also made three three-pointers in the contest, one of which caught Jennings’ attention.

“Can’t wait to see this kid in the 414,” Jennings wrote on Twitter.

It was a truly nasty move on Johnson’s part and Jennings just needed to show the teenage man some love.

Johnson won’t be Milwaukee’s savior this upcoming season as the team looks to rebound from a disappointing 2023-24 campaign, but there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the rookie and what he can bring to the team.

Jennings, for one, is clearly a fan.
