Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is arguably the most notable name in Greek basketball history, but he will be just one of countless superstars who will be competing for a gold medal at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
There is no squad more star-studded than Team USA, with players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, to name a few, leading the Americans in their quest for another gold medal.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Kevin Durant Highlights Giannis Antetokounmpo
Durant and Curry were representing Team USA at a press conference in Paris on Wednesday, and one of the questions they were asked was who they thought would be the biggest star of the tournament outside of their own team.
After a moment’s thought, the first name that came out of Durant’s mouth was simply “Greek Freak.”
“Uh, Giannis? Giannis can. [Nikola] “Jokic,” he said.
Reporter: Who, besides Team USA, do you think will be the biggest star of the tournament?
KD: Maybe Giannis, Jokic…

Both Durant and Curry agreed that there were more than a few options on the court when talking about the level of competition in the tournament, but it’s worth noting that Giannis was the first to come to Durant’s mind, alongside Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.
The Greeks are not grouped with Team USA in the first round of the tournament, but if Giannis and company manage to get out of the so-called “Group of Death” (which is grouped with Canada, Spain and Australia), they could potentially set up a match with the Americans in the knockout stages.
