This Milwaukee Bucks are working to replace some key members of their rotation for the upcoming season. So far, they have signed former Miami Heat point guard Delon Wright and former Los Angeles Lakers power forward Taurean Prince. Both players are expected to come off the bench for Milwaukee and assist improve the unit’s three-point shooting and defense.
The Bucks, however, have yet to figure out what they will do with their shooting guard position. Last year, they managed to convince Malik Beasley to play for them on a veteran minimum contract with the promise of a starting job.
Malik Beasley had a good year for the Milwaukee Bucks
Beasley appeared in 77 of 79 games for the Bucks, averaging 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 41.3 percent from three-point range, a career high.
Beasley was invited to participate in the three-point contest during NBA All-Star Weekend, which was won by his Bucks teammate Damian Lillard.
Beasley made 224 3-pointers in his only season in Milwaukee, the second-most in franchise history. Ray Allen made 229 in 2001-02.
Beasley, however, was not the defensive piece Milwaukee had hoped he would become. In fairness, when Beasley was signed, Jrue Holiday was still on the team. However, trading Holiday for Lillard meant the Bucks would have to give up some great defense in their backcourt.
Beasley was named the team’s backcourt stopper, a role he has struggled to fill. If he were to return to Milwaukee, he could be relegated to the bench, as he was at the end of the regular season.
Former Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Malik Beasley signs with Detroit Pistons
According to Shams Charania of AthleticsBeasley leaves Milwaukee to sign one-year, $6 million contract with Detroit Pistons:

The $6 million salary is more than the Bucks could have paid Beasley, who certainly didn’t get the free-agent market treatment he might have expected. Indeed, he likely thought he’d get multi-year offers from other teams given his three-point shooting prowess last season. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Beasley goes from the Bucks, who finished third in the NBA’s Eastern Conference with a record of 49-33, to the Pistons, who finished the season with the worst record in the NBA at 14-68.
